We hold regular training sessions throughout the week during term time. Please come along to as many as you’d like. Training is tailored for all abilities, and beginners are very welcome.

Circuit training is a great chance way to meet other members of the club and to find out what’s going on that week.

Cross Country

Interval training sessions are directed by our coach, Geoff Wells

Circuit training is held every Tuesday and is a great way to meet other members of the club and to find out what’s going on that week as well as keeping fit. It is open to all (members and non-members) so pop into the Armitage Centre and join us. There is a cost of £1 per person for the session (£2 for non-members) which goes towards hiring the room.

Steady runs are often broken into several smaller groups so that people can run at their pace (e.g. 3/5/7 miles). We have many ‘traditional’ runs around Manchester, come along to discover these with the safety of numbers.

There are many races we participate in (Manchester Area League Races, Edinburgh Braids, Leeds University Relays and Isle of Man Festival of Running just to name a few!) however when there isn’t a race on the weekend there is usually a longer run that you can join in with, whether this is around the city or out in the countryside.

Below is a table to summarise the cross country training plan.

Athletics

Training takes place at Sportcity three days a week and is open to all abilities. Whether you are a track athlete, or specialise in field events, UoM Athletics covers all disciplines. To get there, catch the 216 or 231 bus from Piccadilly Gardens (we usually all meet here before we get the bus together).

Training is very focussed on the development of each athlete to reach their peak at least twice in the university year: BUCS Indoors and BUCS Outdoors. We all warm up together and then split off to our separate training groups where sessions are tailored to event and ability. There is flexibility in this as you are able to pick and choose what session you would like to do!
