Another year, another weekend in Isle of Man. Although we were frustrated by the transport in and out of the Isle, what a smashing weekend it was! Despite most of us missing the 10k in Port Erin on Good Friday, there were still some impressive times, most notably Dave Norman (31:43) finishing third.
On the following day, Hannah Brown ran incredibly well to finish 4th with a time of 17:54, an improvement of over a minute from last year where she finished 8th with a time of 18:59. She must be gunning to win the race next year!
On Easter Sunday, the mist welcomed us in Douglas for the 5k. Adam Sciacca clocked an impressive 16:30 after his whiskey-filled birthday shenanigan the night before and Jon Harrison managed to run a PB after two races in two days and an 11-mile pub crawl. Whatever he is doing, he is definitely doing it right.
Overall, Dave Norman WON the men’s individual category for the weekend! Dossers thieved the winner’s plate and are yet to return! What sore losers. Isle of Man Débutante, Josh Nevin won the junior men’s individual category as well. Great effort, Josh. The future looks bright.
Lizzie Goldie-Scot finished the weekend in 13th place and Georgia Gainz-Baynes in 24th despite running the Sunday 5k three legged with Ruth Lindley! Great stuff, girls.
Other notable achievements include Jon Harrison and Laurie Luscombe who finished the weekend 17th and 19th respectively.
Razz complete all three races and finished 100th out of 100 places! We all hope to see you again soon, Razz.
Full set of results are available here.
Alehouse only won the football match against the dossers 3-2 despite dominating the game. Bigger winning margin next year, lads! (We want ten!)
On the beer racing front, the women’s finished in consistent 2nd place behind cheating dossers (Amicia didn’t run or marshal. Ahem ahem!) and men’s obviously won. Pretty standard stuff. We will aim to do the double next year!
All in all, it was another fantastic weekend and although the ferry had broken down and planes couldn’t leave the island, everyone (except Razz who happily stayed until Wednesday) left the Isle by Tuesday night. Isle of Man blues will certainly have struck some people by now.
Only a year left until the next one. ALEHOUSE!!!
